Home Schooling
The beauty of home schooling is that it can be tailored to each student’s – and their family’s – precise needs. Home schooling can help children who are pursuing opportunities in sports, music or the arts to maintain their education. It can support a smooth transition when a family is moving from one location to another. It can allow young people with SEN or health concerns to flourish at their own pace. Academic rigour need not be sacrificed. If desired, it can provide a more holistic and creative way of learning than most schools can offer. In some cases, particularly with older students, clients prefer to work with multiple subject specialists to put together their own home schooling curriculum. We can also help to arrange this, and ensure all the tutors communicate and work together effectively. Home schooling can be arranged to take place in the UK or abroad.
HOME SCHOOL EDUCATORS
The home school educator you work with will take full responsibility for ensuring your child’s education is varied, inspiring, and in line with national curriculum expectations. The educator will have a deep knowledge of the specific curricula you wish to follow. If required, they will have expertise and training in supporting SEN students. The candidates we introduce will be well versed in public exam board specifications and will take the stress out of preparing private candidates for important exams.
HOW WE PROVIDE YOU WITH CANDIDATES
We are able to provide exceptional candidates via our methodical process and the care and attention to detail we apply to each case. Here are the five key stages of the process:
1. Matthew is the owner of the company, with over 16 years' private tuition and consultancy work completed. He will come to visit you to get to know you and the student, so that he can understand the situation as fully as possible.
2. An outline of the position, its terms and a salary are agreed.
3. Matthew and the team will begin to look for a tutor(s) for you via their extensive network of contacts. The recommended notice period for finding the ideal candidate is six months.
4. Candidates are put forward to the family with CVs and references, and two or more tutors are chosen for interview. Helicon View makes a contract with the successful tutor and a separate contract with the client.
5. Matthew and the team are available to discuss any issues or questions with you over the course of your experience with Helicon View. We offer ongoing consultancy and support to home schooling clients such as: advising on public exams and assessments; supporting with subject choices and re-entry to the school system; arranging cover if there is any disruption to the programme of tuition; attending meetings and ensuring that feedback channels are effective.
HOW WE WILL SUPPORT YOU
Matthew and the team provide regular consultancy in relation to every homeschool student we work with.
We can ensure that all administrative aspects of the placement – such as entering for public exams, fulfilling practical components of the curricula, and applying to schools and colleges – are completed efficiently.
We keep in constant contact with the family to ensure that communications channels are open and any issues are rapidly resolved.
We support with timetables and planning: we can even take charge of finding and booking extracurricular activities and trips, or liaising with multiple teachers and experts to create a balanced programme.
Should you need a cover tutor at any point during the placement, due to your homeschool educator being unwell, Helicon View will step in to ensure that disruption is minimised.
We also support with the formation of the home school agreement, and oversee the billing process, to ensure that everything is streamlined for the client and tutor throughout the placement.
